I don't completely agree with all these Bluegrass covers

Of Rock songs that have been put out these past few years. I get it, hillbilly acoustic version of Thunderstruck or Sweet Child of Mine are amusing and all.

But as a Bluegrass fan it can be a little aggravating.

On the other hand, if this is what it takes to introduces you to the Del McCoury Band, well then it's all worth it.

Also, ELECTRIC DAMN UKELELE

But seriously - that Thunderstruck band is from Finland or some such - It ain't real hill folks at all - it's an act!!

Thanks - you caused me to do his High, Lonesome and Blue album!

Though I long resisted, I am now loving my Apple Music subscription. All the music I want for $11/ mo.

I fell in love with bluegrass at Univ. Vermont in the 70s!

She sang a clear as glass tenor for as long as her voice held out and while I cannot remember when I was little, I remember her singing while nursing my younger Brother and Sisters.
My Grand Uncle Red played mandolin, fiddle and hammered dulcimer.

I wish I had any talent at all, but all I have is a love of music, not any ability to play it

As much as you like the Avett's, you'd probably like her (Sierra Hull), Glamrock. She also kinda straddles the trad bluegrass and contemporary pop scenes. And she can shred the hell out of the mandolin.

Here he is with Jerry Douglas on "Girl From the North Country."

Tim O'Brien's version of "Hey Joe" (also w/ Jerry Douglas - that guy is everywhere) is pretty awesome too.

And yeah, the classical music world has had kitschy arrangements of popular music for a long time now. Longtime fans roll their eyes a bit, but that can be fun, and maybe get some people to give the genre a chance that wouldn't otherwise.

Just kinda tired of folks (On other media, not DU MA) finding Iron Horse or those Finnish guys and sending me a link or tagging me on the posts.

Yeah, I get it - I'm the only guy that actually listens to this stuff that they interact with in real life... But damn it people at least choose good covers.

It doesn't have to be a hard rock song either. If you're going to do it Blue grass any way, one melody is as good as another.
