I used to be in a band in the early 90s and our first lead guitarst was trained by Bob Yeazel, who was Sugarloaf's third guitarist. I was listening to this song ever since it came out in 1970.

And, also, this song was used as the 'theme song' to one of my favorite local TV shows when I lived outside of Suffolk, VA. There was a late night show that would play old horror movies. It was called 'Dr. Madblood'. It was pretty popular at the time. This just made me love the song even more.)

That organ solo is fantastic.
The difficulty in getting record companies interested in this song us what this later hit was about.

It was Jerry's F You to all the execs at Liberty Records who told then their album sucked & there was no nit!
Green-Eyed Lady reached #3 in the US & the album was Top 25.
After that, they were getting calls on congratulations. Jerry was nice about it, but was seething inside hearing this from people who said their stuff was crap.
On a different label, he released Don't Call Us... as a shot at Liberty.
