Somebody explain to me how the band 'Sons of Bill' are not absolutely huge ...

Earlier this week I was informed by Spotify that I might like album 'Sirens' by the band 'Sons Of Bill', so I thought what the hell, I might as well catch up with them. You see, I'd heard a couple songs of theirs before, a few years back (only because Americana is a favorite genre of mine and I read stuff like the No Depression website regularly) which I thought were decent, but that did not prepare me for how freaking GREAT these guys have gotten over the past few years, and how awesome 'Sirens' would be.

Reading up on them a bit I found out that they funded the record through Kickstarter, so I'd imagine that the lack of record company support is why they've gotten so little exposure, but I'll tell you what ... these three Sons of Bill (yes, the three frontmen are brothers, and their dad is named Bill) absolutely deserve to be heard.

It didn't hurt at all that they picked up a stud like David Lowery (of Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven fame) to produce this album, but even the acoustic versions w/o all the studio sheen still sound brilliant, so I know it wasn't all Lowery that brought out the best in these cats ... some serious songwriting and musical prowess going one here, and they are amazing live.

Lastly ... I went to Amazon and found that the album has only TWELVE frickin reviews and I'm like, are you KIDDING me? I guess this proves that w/o a big label, or getting played in the background of a Twilight movie, or having friggin Kanye or Rihanna guesting on your album, you ain't gonna get heard. Sad, really. So that's why I'm trying to spread the word about these guys on all the sites I visit regularly ...

Here's a collection of vids from the Sons of Bill, all tunes from Sirens ... obviously, I highly recommend checking 'em out.

Some Official Vids

The first single from the album ... I swear if you listen to this song two times, you won't be able to get it out of your head afterwards:

The second single they released off of Sirens, also an awesome song:

Here's a beautiful tune (the closing track on Sirens) that shows their Americana roots ... now, can someone please explain how a song this great has only like 1,400 views on Youtube, and vids by totally untalented tools like Kid Rock have like 14,000,000? I swear ... either the music biz is royally screwed up, or people really have crap taste in music.

And a couple of Concert Vids

The awesome moment with the crowd sing-along and the ensuing rock-out ... magic like that is what concerts are all about:

Turns out the keyboard player can also write a good song, and sing it, and the Mike Mills-looking lead guitarist can SHRED:

And a couple of acoustic versions ...

The aforementioned shredding lead guitarist also showing that he can also write a great song, and sing it ...

Proving that Santa Ana Winds is still a great song, even without all the amperage

With as talented as all three brothers are, I have this feeling we'll only get to enjoy them all in one band for so long before they go all Son Volt/Wilco on us ...
