What singer influenced Robert Plant, Paul Rogers, & Steve Marriott?

Terry Reid, that's who. And you can hear all three in this live performance. Sick!

Sidenote: That's Alan White, future Yes drummer and David Lindley, future Jackson Browne guitarist. Plus Ike and Tina's bassist Lee Miles. Plus the amazing Linda Lewis. Amazing performance! Dig it:

And no better proof that: Performance > Audio Quality.

Would rather listen to that ragged audio than 95% of the bands I record in hi-fi.

I could listen to that all day. And watching them pass around a 5" handroll made it all the more grassroots.

So much to unpack.

Chris Robinson was the first person I thought of as well.

Yeah man, the Cheech & Chong bomber is pretty epic! As to your point, I've never heard Chris mention Terry as an influence. Not saying you're wrong. But it could be his Steve Marriott and Robert Plant influence you are hearing. For example. In the 90's I was hugely, hugely influenced by Chris. A guitar player told me he heard Steve Marriott in me (still can't hear it and only dream of sounding like that). "It's your phrasing man", he said. That came from Chris. That was before I discovered Steve. Could be the same thing.

If Chris Robinson never heard Terry Reid, I'd be kinda amazed.

Can I also just say ... I'LL HAVE WHAT THEY'RE HAVING?!?

One more thing I didn't know about him. I can't imagine Zeppelin without Robert Plant though. Terry reid lives in my area and still plays live.

Can't imagine Zep without Plant either....but can you imagine Page/Reid? Earth shaking. Or trainwreck. Who knows? Fun to think about though yeah?
