Peter Tork (The Monkees) has passed

I saw this story in the General. Thought it deserved a place in here.

The Monkees Headquarters was my first record buy @15. When they first started writing their own songs more. My parents were very strict religiously, and Rock music was of the Devil. So I had to sneak it in, and play it upstairs on my little box turn table I bought with my paper route. I choose it because they had a TV show on, where I was introduced to their music, and I thought I could talk my way out of having a Rock record if I was caught a bit easier with a more "bubble gum" TV group.

I loved that album. It will always have sentimental value, but I actually still like a few of those songs today. Here was my favorite:

I always laughed at the lines,
"My steaming coffee warms my face
I'm disappointed in the taste"

Peter Tork was waiting tables at the Sleeping Lady Cafe in Fairfax, Ca. He served me coffee and a dessert. At the time, he’d run through the fortune he made with the Monkees and was doing what he could to survive.

They had 4 number one records. You'd think he'd have been able to save or invest something. Although I heard they only got $450 an episode for their TV show!
