A look at late career RL Burnside

His guitar playing skills degraded as he aged and he stuck to rhythm for a while.

In fact after he stopped drinking, he quit playing entirely and just did vocals. This song, Bad Luck City has RL singing with the Blues Explosion - who were Fat Possum Records back up band in all but name

But that was a remake - RL and his Family Band released a grittier version with RL on guitar a few years earlier

Don't get me wrong, the Blues Explosion records kicked quite a bit of ass - Especially the Album "A Pocket Ass of Whisky" which has to be the most punk garage metal sounding blues record ever made by an actual Blues artist.
