Music Appreciation

Today I am appreciating the music of King Crimson. (RIP John Wetton )
The lyrics are so appropriate right now
The wall on which the prophets wrote, is cracking at the seams.
Upon the instruments of death, the sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart with nightmares and with dreams,
will no one lay the laurel wreath when silence drowns the screams?
Confusion will be my epitaph, as I crawl a cracked and broken path.
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh. But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.
Between the iron gates of fate, the seeds of time were sown,
and watered by the deeds of those who know and who were known.
Knowledge is a deadly friend if no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind, I see, is in the hands of fools.

(14,946 posts)1. A perfect song ( especially for now) from a perfect album.
I listen to In the Court of the Crimson King on long drives. In my mind I costume and choreograph it.
I used to do that with Scheherazade. I imagined it as an ice show.

(14,946 posts)3. I shall have to listen to Scheherazade and try that!
Such good taste in music you have hermetic!
Music is my everything. That, and my cats.

(14,946 posts)5. Walked into hubby's office this morning.
And this was playing!
I love a good coincidence! I, of course, was talking about Rimsky Korsakov's but I also adore that version and it started playing in my head yesterday after I wrote that post. Music plays in my head all the time. I used to think that was true of everyone. Think I'll fire up the old YouTube player right now and sing along. Thanks for sharing.

My life also has a constant soundtrack running.

Back in my college days I had a dear friend who went on to become Wardrobe Master for the Stars on Ice tour. Whenever they came to St. Paul I used to get free tickets then we'd get together after the show for a beer. I told him once how I couldn't believe no one ever used Sheherazade for their routine because it seemed to me so perfect for ice dancing. Today I see maybe someone finally got my message. Watching this was like a dream come true for me. I was all goose bumps and tears.
