Tosin Abasi - Leonardo De Vinci of guitars

He designed the 8 string fan fretted guitar he plays here. The fan effect allows for a longer (27.5) fret length for the additional bass strings while keeping the higher strings at a standard 24 fret length. That way the thinner strings don't have to be stretched as tightly to be tuned - allowing a player to still have a lighter action

That is the De Vinci the scientist piece

The De Vinci the artist part?

Watch his right hand he mixes alternate picking with bass inspired thumping and what he calls selective note picking where he doesn't take the pick up and down at all but rather hammers on with his left to sound the notes that the pick and fingers leave out.

I watched this and literally had to watch a video that explains what I just saw

Here is his interview with Rick Beato where he explains the guitars and techniques

Peaking the technique should be a slave to the groove, and I don't feel it here.
