Alchemy Live, Sultans of Swing is awesome because the second guitar solo is the Lady Writer solo. It took me about ten years to notice that. You don't hear Lady Writer that much, so it just didn't register until I was on a Dire Straits binge and hear both close together.

The first 2 albums are just fantastic. I stayeda a fan through all the various permutations but Dire Straits and Communique are still my faves.

Mark stopped by to visit that early sound a couple years ago,

Ironically enough she was a Lady Writer.

I know he made a ton of $ later, but I thought they lost the feel when Mark got a distortion unit.
His tone was so unique & fit his playing perfectly.
I agree those first 2 albums were great.
