I saw this line up

Mid 1970's at the La Paloma Theatre in Encinitas, CA.
Yes it was a mind blowing experience "back in the day". This was "experimental" jazz and rock and funk.
Not many were playing like this.
Glad I saw this tour in person.

George Duke - keyboards
Billy Cobham - drums
John Scofield - guitar
Alphonso Johnson - bass

...that's because, not too many could.

Nowadays, actually knowing how to play an instrument or instruments is optional.

...NO, not THAT Band - when things became really psychedelic/head trippy, it was a direct mind-meld with, in my case, the bass and guitar players.

Perhaps "becoming the notes" is what that is.

The breaking down of ego and walls.
That musical intimacy is unreal.

I had jam sessions with good musicians every Saturday night at my place.
I remember a few times hitting "the zone" and ending and silence. Nobody said a word. No one wanted to spoil that special moment. We just all walked out to the porch and looked up at the moon with our minds blown.
I'd love to feel that again.

Don't know the guy on bass but sounds like one of the first "supergroups".

With a lineup like that, beautiful music is sure to be heard. Wish I was there!

It was that good

And they were laughing and having a good time.
Billy and George were like comedians.
