My SO at the time was a newspaper reporter who had the "story of her life" break on the day of the concert (it really was a great story, so I was, and have been, cool with it). Hence, I have an unbroken R.E.M. ticket...

On edit, I totally forgot about my unbroken Cure ticket from the Wish tour, 1990! Oddly enough, that was when I was with my ex-wife, another newspaper reporter (yeah, apparently that was a *thing* with me back then ). She had a big story break that day that she had to cover, so I traveled from Peoria to Chicago by myself to see The Cure...

Along with I think 5 other Cure tix, from HOTD, SOAB, Kiss Me x 3, and two Disintegration tour tix ...

Also an R.E.M on Monster tour ticket ... that may've been 1995 now that think of it ... Shoreline Amphitheater. Sadly the only time I saw them, one of my all-time fave bands. Was TRYING to get someone to go with me to Lifes Rich Pageant tour in 1986 but none of my friends had really heard 'em yet then. I should've just gone alone ... it wasn't even sold out ...

Yes always just go even alone worth it and no regrets . I've had great times and met folks.

'78-'85. I saw about everyone that was any good that came through. I may have lost about half of them.

I was just looking through all of them and found two unused tickets to Edgar Winter in '96. I forgot I guess, and was thinking WTF? Why didn't I use these? There is no way I would have just blown that off and not gone. It was just at a local nightclub right downtown close too. I thought about it and realized that was right when we had a like one in 50 years snow storm. That could have done it. If I made it home from work, I may have not wanted to go back out in that shit! Cheap tickets too, and I might even gotten those free.

Everyone from AC/DC to ZZ Top. We went to Seattle for some big shows like The Stones. I saw a few great ones at the Columbia Gorge amphitheater too. Page and Plant and Tom Petty there. Blue Oyster Cult is the band I've seen the most times. Because they came back and kept on going for so many years after their big days in the 70's. They were always awesome live though. Until the last couple years, well worth going to see.

In my stack One of my 'lost' ones though sadly is Stones/G&R/Living Color on the Steel Wheels tour, saw 'em in LA. Dunno what happened to that one ...

No Edgar Winter, Petty, or BoC though. U2 is the band I seen the most (7X), followed by The Cure, then probably Aerosmith though Robert Plant if you count Page/Plant are probably around the same as Aerosmith, I wanna say 5x for both.

Wish I'd kept my first two shows ever, Kiss + Cheap Trick in 1977, and the Beach Boys Day on the Green in 1978 ... with Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, and Elvin Bishop. I remember a sign up in the seats hanging over a balcony reading ... "Linda & Dolly ... Where The Hell is EmmyLou?" I was like 11, and had to ask my dad who took me to the show "who the hell is EmmyLou, daddy?". Of course he knew who she was and laughed at the sign I'd pointed out to him and said "Right on, son ... Where IS Emmylou Harris today!?!"

Earliest one there is 1980 Day on the Green (aka DOG) with Journey, Sabbath with newly-minted singer Ronnie James Dio (he was all about the giving us the 'devil's horns' and bangin' his head that day lol), along with Cheap Trick & Molly Hatchet ... followed by a 1981 DOG with REO Speedwagon, Kansas, UFO, 38 Special, and Ronnie Montrose's Gamma. Next was The Tubes in 1981 at the Concord Pavilion. Entry: $5.

I was 15-16, so I didn't have a sense of Hx back then. Wish I did, tho!

One of the things I loathe about modern conveniences is that, more times than not, I have to use e-tickets now!!

I don't have my Jason Isbell from Southwestern tour ticket, for example ... cause that very reason.

Twenty before. I kept the ones my husband and I went to. The last was grand funk railroad, two months before he died. Good memories. Fun.

and include ball games, movies, etc. The ones I really wished we kept were Rolling Stones/Led Zeppelin playing within a month of each other at the old Denver Coliseum, early summer of '72 or '73, I think. Cheap seats, up high AND high, lousy acoustics for something like 4.50 bucks a head. I don't remember much about either concert except getting there on my Royal Enfield, parking close-in and with Denver's finest giving us the evil eye upon entry. Once inside though, Jimmy Page playing his guitar with a violin bow and Mick Jagger doing what he does best.

Raiders and Broncos, what a great rivalry. Goes back aways. We haven't lived in Denver for almost 40 years and although still donk supporters our fan-dom is a bit more tempered these days. Funny how that works but while hoping to see them do well, we'll root for anybody in the AFC West second, followed by anybody in the West, then slowly moving eastward with an AFC preference. Excluding the Cowboys, of course. Just can't abide by them and J.J.'s America's team bullshit. Actually, not sure we're Elway fans anymore either.

Motörhead at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, 1983. I actually remember throwing it away after I got home as I told myself “I guess some people save these but that’s corny.”

I was disappointed once when I ordered will-call tickets for Shonen Knife and when I got there the promoter just checked my name off a list and stamped my hand. Then as I turned to go in he said “And here’s your souvenir,” and handed me a ticket.

if you don't keep the 'evidence' of the cool stuff you did in your life, be it ticket stubs or photos or cards/letters ... you'd be bound to 'forget' ...

For most of my concert-going career, 'photos' were definitely not an option, at least not inside. It's a trip how much things have changed, there used to be a friggin' N*zi-like atmosphere when it came to recording and pics, now it's just like 'whatever, everyone has a phone, can't stop it' mentality.

In retrospect I wish I had a lot more photos of me and friends partying OUTSIDE all these dozens of shows, that's for sure. Looking back on my catalog, I have an AWFULLY precious few of photos of me and my friends, pre-show. I so wish I had more ... but it was all about gettin' our buzz on and cranking tunes in the parking lot and, in too many cases, walking around the lot either looking for partyables or extra tix to get that one or two extra bozo into the show with us ... you know, the one(s) who never got his/hers ahead of time but came down anyways hoping to get in somehow ... lol ... plus all too many times, we were runnin' late ...

now with tics on phones or printer tickets ? The stubs wouldn't represent all now just a certain era

NIN & JMC just had a ticket line outside the venue yesterday for thier show in Oct here .
Yes like the old days... you had to go stand in line to get a ticket ...no online sales .

It's to avoid bot resellers who scoop up all the tickets quickly when the normal online sales hit
I have seen this happen so many times 60 sec sell outs . Pisses me off I know why

Many musicians are trying various alternatives
like the NIN sale. Some of these ways around resellers like this have worked
I've seen others a fail and resellers get all the tickets anyway ...
Even when you had to stand in line a long time ago you used to see people that were there for making money with resellers
but you were standing with them and you had a chance . Nowadays not so much and people with $$$ to buy resold are often sitting in the top seats

Just a side rant on concert tickets ....back to stub collections

Anyway I'm just like that - hey people are on me cuz I don't take enuf pics of my kids growing up either
I guess I'm not a saver or collector but I do enjoy other people's memorabilia. Thanks for the post a lot of good comments and memories of my own just reading them!
