(3,569 posts)at a Holiday Inn in Sacramento. Nobody there hardly. The TITANS of country music (I'm from Folsom and JC is GOD there) and nobody showed. Johnny has played Sacramento many times as well as his legendary Folsom Prison show. They were amazing. I love the album and their version of Robert Earl Keen's "The Road goes on forever" is terrific, the way they share verses.
I just saw Willie, Saturday night at Ironstone. Shame he is the same every time. Willie can still pick in that Django Reinhart way though. Great guitaring.
I love his kids too, Lukas, Micha and Paula. Lukas and his band, Promise of the Real, are Neil Young's band as well as being a sought after touring group.

(3,569 posts)The videos especially. And Im a harp player and Mickey is GOD to me. That country harp, playing the melody, THAT'S HOW I TRY TO PLAY! My good friend, Homer Wills, was in Willie's band, along with Mickey, at one point. When asked how he could do that Willie said "Bob Wills can have two steel guitar players I can have two harmonica players".
I wish he didn't have to play all them songs and could play everything that aint them songs instead.. I'm thinking about the Hollywood Bowl show, Outlaw tour, with Phil Lesh, Lukas and Promise of the Real and the best act Ive seen in a long freaking time, Sturgill Simpson. (seriously incredible guitar swamp rock..like seeing Stevie Ray Vaughn kind of). Thinking that might lead to some collaborations. The possibility of a Sturgill, Lukas guitar jam is so tempting.
