(54,410 posts)That is a LOT of ice gone for just 7 years!!
Keep in mind that the ice we could SEE was 80 feet tall, but there was three times that much
under the water that we couldn't see. The enormity of it all is just staggering to behold.

(3,170 posts)They are melting at an alarming rate.
We were at Tracy Arm near Juneau in 2007. There were a lot more small icebergs in the water as well back then.

(3,170 posts)That is Nugget Falls and the Mendenhall Glacier just outside Juneau. Tracy Arm is a fjord about forty three miles south of Juneau, only accessible by boat. They are both beautiful. Mendenhall Glacier was really socked in with rain and fog when we were there last week, but I managed to salvage a few shots. I'll be posting them soon.
