Shadow gets all excited when people come here to ride. As if they are here to see her. Period.

(3,666 posts)Im SE Florida. We dodged Ian (just a few miles south) but finally seeing videos of Ft Myers. Been on verge of tears all day. Mostly stress let down. It was scary intense. Seeing Shadow in all her love and exuberance for life and everything and everyone around her makes me teary but deeply content. Thanks George, thanks Shadow. I really needed that release and love of life tonight.

(5,420 posts)She greets all people who come here to ride like this. Usually she spots a truck and horse trailer pull in to our "parking pasture" and starts barking. She walks with us to the edge of the pasture then lowers her head and takes off full speed like a freight train. Doesn't matter if it's someone new to our place whom she's never seen before, she zooms up to them and does not stop until she's at their feet. Shadow knows not to jump up on people, so once she arrives at her target she immediately turns one way or another to place her back just so for back skritches. Like in this picture. And of course everyone's happy to see her! If more than one rider comes out Shadow makes the rounds, then trots off to hunt field mice in the pasture.
At which she is highly skilled.
Thanks again,
George
