But then, you know that.

(32,005 posts)Thats the corner of my house down in the lower left.
Theres an empty lot next door, so I get the benefit of those leaves, as well.

(11,296 posts)Luckily is a wooded area so all the leaves get put back where they came from. Only problem, the oaks aren't very pretty, and they fall just about when the snow is about to fly.
Diamond_Dog
(32,005 posts)And they drop their leaves all at different times. It makes for a lonnnng leaf raking season.

(149,627 posts)The colors cannot be beat.
This is the major thing I miss, living in this part of CA. Even though I was quite young when we moved from Illinois, I still remember the turning trees and their magnificent colors.
Thank you so much for sharing the beauty!

(32,005 posts)Its almost like natures last hurrah until the snow comes. Im glad this photo brought back some good memories for you!

(23,322 posts)What a treat to see. Its been a long lovely fall here in MT. Leaves are just now starting to turn and we didnt even have a hard frost until a week or so ago. Ill bet that golden light bathes your home in a warm glow.

I would love to see what your neck of the woods looks like right now.

(23,322 posts)but leaves are changing quickly! Heres yesterdays view looking north from the end of my street. The snowy area is the foothills of the Rattlesnake Wilderness. Winter is creeping our way!

(9,810 posts)The sun is just right for the yellow leaves (just as the diffuse light is perfect for Callalily's tree) and the shadows add dimensionality.
Reminds me of New England. (very long ago!) Instead of a summer vacation, I would take a foliage vacation through Vermont and New Hampshire.
Helps that it's right at your home!
Diamond_Dog
(32,005 posts)I love to notice light in pictures
morning, late afternoon, dusk
each one creates a certain mood. Thank you for noticing! Ill bet New England is gorgeous this time of year. We have some very nice scenery here in Ohio, as well.

(53,410 posts)Ive been looking for inspiration!
I have a tree on the corner of my condo that turns a bright lemony yellow which is just beginning to change now. I painted that tree in Summer, Fall and Winter just after snow fell. Im very happy with how it came out. I have all three of them hanging on the wall above the sofa in the living room, like a trilogy. I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Your tree is gorgeous!
Diamond_Dog
(32,005 posts)Have you ever posted the paintings of your tree? Id love to see them. 🙂. What is fall like in Santa Fe?
Another artist friend of mine painted the same lighthouse in all 4 seasons.
