A film question

While clearing out our house I found an SX70 camera. It had a box of film. Probably no good since it hasn't been kept refrigerated and I believed that the battery wss in the film.
So is the old style film still available? I used to distort the image as it developed. A newer version didn't seem to do that since it was no longer formulated by Polaroid.

Inquiring mind wants to know. If so, I might keep the camera.

My dad got some expired film on sale. He used it to take Mt. St. Helen's pictures when she was puffing. Soon after that trip, the mountain blew up. None of my dad's pictures could be developed. 😕 So, toss the old film.

If you have access, might as well give it a shot.

About the same price with conversion. If I go the b+H route I'll pay even more with shipping and customes.
I have heard that this doesn't do the manipulation of the image the way the original film did. This is what I'm primarily interested in doing again.

The information about manipulation and SX70 films now seems pretty scant.

I did find that you can do an emulsion transfer of the black and white version. I will look into that.
