(6,890 posts)I' not aware that it's common, but I feel pretty confident it exists.
Now skane phobia - that is common.

(149,635 posts)The frog in the first snake photo looked a bit startled, to me. Of course, I could be simply projecting!
Super photos!

(9,864 posts)....interesting thing about the last two shots is that the snake is a cat eyed snake and they eat frog eggs, tadpoles and adult frogs. the red eyed tree frog eventually took off but while it was there, the snake wasn't interested in eating it, i guess because either it wasn't hungry or it thought the frog was too big.

(7,633 posts)When they lost him, they lost a lot of the magic. I mean, Ronnie Wood is a nice guy but...
Killed the Faces too really, they should have tried harder to get Rory Gallagher maybe? Naw, he would have overwhelmed them.Ry Cooder? He did do some work with them, and just Mick on Memo From Turner where he laid down some of the most nasty, gritty bottleneck ever recorded. But he would never have meshed or wanted to long term.
But, back to reality, if you were lucky enough to see them with the two Mick's ?
They were incredible, esp the '69 and '72 tours here in the USA.
Yeah, you can tell I'm a Stones fan. Its the music of my life, esp in the better years when we were both in our prime..

(9,864 posts).....never got to see the stones with taylor as i was only about 14 when he left the band. i did see taylor when he was touring with his own band in the late 80s....he played at some crappy rock bar in wisconsin, just north of chicago. small, dumpy venue (a few hundred people showed up), really, for a guy like that, i thought at the time...but he was just a shadow of his former self....he looked a bit bloated and coked up and the show was disappointing. it was hard to believe he was the same guy. he had just one minor hit (that i can remember) after leaving the stones....what a shame for a guy with all that amazing talent.
i've seen the stones at least 5 times....some girls tour (the last real stones album IMHO), tattoo you tour, and the steel wheels tour (had to drive to indianapolis for that unremarkable show). in my opinion, they never really were a live band, but they were an amazing studio band. still, i would trade all the times i saw them to just see one early 70s show.
in the late 80s, richards went on tour after his solo album came out and i went to see him at the aragon ball room in chicago (IIRC the neville bros opened).....that was an incredible show. it was a general admission show and my friend and i worked our way up to about the 10th row and got seats.

(7,633 posts)Yeah, Taylor ballooned up replacing one addiction for another I suppose. Sad, because he seemed to perform just fine on heroin, like more than a few musicians did and still do apparently.
But Richards really came alive with that group he put together, the Expensive Winos was it? With that session player, Waddy Watchel I think? "Ilenne", that song moves me.
Gato Moteado
(9,864 posts)...i love everything he did on the "performance" sound track.
did you ever see the "buena vista social club" documentary? the CD was amazing, but you need to see the story behind it all.

(7,633 posts)Ry Cooder has always been a great interview and I've made a point of listening to every one he gave I could get my hands on starting with his time w Captain Beefheart, which was friggin' hilarious! He'd reminisce about putting together his vision of a band, tracking down the great Flaco Jimenez, Randy Newman telling him he just ruined his career. But their work with the Moula Banda Rhythm Aces? OMG, just their version of "chain Gang" alone is breathtaking.

(31,518 posts)I'm happy that I have toads that live in my yard. I also have what I call my yard snakes. They are both welcome to dine on all the bugs they care to.

I liked them the best because of the colors and the expression in the frog's eye(s). A non-photographer's opinion.

(9,864 posts)....i had been wanting to see one for a long time and that was not only the first one i have ever seen on my property, but the first i have seen in the wild. they are huge compared to the other tree frogs. i am not crazy about the milk frog shots...the exposure and overall look of the shots doesn't do it for me....hopefully that one will be back soon (and hopefully more of them) and i'll get some more attempts and capture some killer photos.
thank you for the feedback.....here are my favorite photos of the bunch:
numbers 1 (gliding leaf frog), 3 (olive snouted tree frogs), 6 (olive snouted tree frog), 7 (olive snouted tree frog), 8 (olive snouted tree frog), 14 (red eyed tree frog), 16 (red eyed tree frog on the same leaf with the frog eating cat eyed snake!), 17 (profile head shot of the cat eyed snake)

Gato Moteado
(9,864 posts)....there has been a steady decline in global amphibian populations. it's a tragic thing. i saw it first hand in the florida everglades between 1990 and 1994, while i was living in miami.
i live in costa rica now, and while i have healthy populations of many species of frogs and toads, i have witnessed a decline in some species, notably a couple of the poison dart frog species: dendrobates auratus and phyllobates vitattus. the once healthy D. auratus population is now a small fraction in the area of what it was when i first bought this property and the P. vitattus population was isolated to one waterfall on the property and i haven't seen a single one in 7 or 8 years, at least.

(7,633 posts)But where was that red eyed frog found?
Gato Moteado
(9,864 posts)i'm in my house now but i can hear them calling
Ligyron
(7,633 posts)OK, yeah and Central America too now that I read through the comments.
I assumed you were stateside and wondered if the Red Eyes had invaded Florida maybe, where I live, like so many other tropical/sub tropical species from around the world.
Excellent photography, and I like some more than others but there are no "meh" in the lot, imho.
Gato Moteado
(9,864 posts)....i think they just barely touch into south america into northwestern colombia.....but they are in north america up to honduras, at least, and possibly into southern mexico.
but just wait a little while and you'll see them breeding and flourishing in SoFL. what part of FL are you in? i lived in cutler ridge (before hurricane andrew) and then miramar for a couple years after that. i was there from 1990 to 1994 in total and by then there were already tons of non-native wildlife species all over the place.

(4,608 posts)I like them all, my favorite is the eighth one. Theres something about the look on his face and the angle of the shot that really stood out to me. The ninth one also. That frogs (toads?) eyes are so beautiful and I like how his bumpy skin looks in the lighting. Its like I could reach over and touch him but already know what hed feel like.
