Related: About this forumToday, I took the Audi up into Palos Verdes to see the Wayfarer's Chapel.
I wanted to give it a real road test, and it was. It was a glorious summer day, lots of traffic, and sunshine.
Here's a few photos, plus one of the car, so you know I really was there!
And my car, in the lovely parking lot:

(149,631 posts)I can bet you miss your old life here. Just remind yourself of the HIGH cost of living here! That might help.

CaliforniaPeggy
(149,631 posts)I like those shadows too, so I took them in with the agapanthus! I really liked what they brought to the photos.

(28,798 posts)but my dear CaliforniaPeggy, you must be from somewhere close to my home. Grew up in Torrance and lived in the South Bay for the first 52 years of my life, except one year spent in the Antelope Valley.
i wanna go home
my ex lives in Portuguese Bend. My oldest son El Segundo.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,631 posts)I wish you could come back too.
I do live near all those places, in Manhattan Beach. I know Torrance well, and El Segundo too.
Maybe it would help you to consider how expensive it is to live here. We bought our property back in 1972 and even then it was outrageous. We couldn't buy it now.
Still, it's wonderful to live here. We will never move again.

(28,798 posts)for 7 1/2 years after my divorce. It was probably the cheapest apartment in MB at the time at $750/month and is probably $2,000 by now. Raised my 3 kids and added a 4th in a tiny 2 bedroom!
don't apologize! It's like the biggest in a long life of ironies that I had to move to NC to make enough money to live in CA. Now my youngest son is married and I don't want to risk another grandbaby not knowing me the way my granddaughter never really got the chance. We have a relationship now but it's nothing like the relationship I have with her older brothers, who had enough time with me to establish a close relationship.

NC is a long way from CA, and that covers a lot of things.
Take care of yourself!

(149,631 posts)The totally overcast days really get me down.
I was definitely able to enjoy today. And that's a great spot to enjoy it from.

(9,123 posts)Late this year owing to no sun through May and June, I reckon.
It wound up being a lovely day today. Glad you got out in it.

My jacaranda's bloom is late too, and not as good as usual. I wonder if that's due to less sun.
But today I knew I had to get out. I felt the need to drive my new car (just got it Wednesday) and start getting really used to it.
It's much larger than my old Toyota and of course everything is computer-driven! My owner's manual looks like a textbook!
And so off we went. It was as close to perfect as I could imagine.

But there's no mistaking your flower photography, so I believe you.
