regarding glass frog eggs, there is a species of fly that lays their eggs on the egg mass and the larva hatch quickly and eat the developing embryos of the glass frogs. there are wasps that also eat the eggs. when insects land on or near the eggs, the males will kick them off.

...eggs hatch in anywhere from a week and a half to four weeks.

there are insects everywhere in the tropics....i don't think they have to leave to eat.

All he has to do is stick out that long sticky tongue when food comes flying by...or alights in his vicinity. Great system for keeping the eggs safe without his having to go without nourishment.

Both of the frogs have a reddish spot on their backs. Do you know the significance of that?

...there are some surreal frogs here.....most of them are on the caribbean coast.....i need to make more trips to that coast to get more pics.

but glass frogs are everywhere here, pretty much. i'm up at 5000 feet right now and i can hear the fleischmann's glass frogs whistling right now outside. for tiny little frogs they are loud.
