I've been gone for a month.

My wife and I drove from one end of New Zealand to the other. Here are just a few of the thousands of images I have to go through. More to come.

Church of the Good Shepherd

Mount Cook

Milford Sound

Sperm whale

A blue penguin, the world's smallest penguin.

Northern royal albatross with a nine foot wingspan

Huka Falls

Tuatara

I wasn't sure if it was the Southern Cross. No one around me knew. It was on my bucket list. Made me think of the Stephen Stills song.

Yeah, your shot of the tiny stone church against an immensely alive universe - amazing. And the shot of the Albatross with its wings in almost vertical position!
Great stuff! Thanks!

appear on the roof of the church and on the adjacent landscape. What causes this effect?

The church and the albatross photos are just outstanding!

This is a high ISO shot processed on my phone while we were travelling i'll have to take a closer look. It could also be autofocus lights from the hundreds of tourists standing elbow to elbow around me! LOL!

I haven't really seen this image on a computer screen yet, only on a phone so far.

What a spectacular middle of the night treat!!

I love the texture in the Huka Falls shot.

The wingspan on the birds had me in awe.

The picture of Huka falls with the mineral tones of the gray sky and green trees and blue water is mesmerizing.

All are spectacular.

We have friends who live on the North Island. They picked us up in Auckland and we spent two days with them. Then we flew down to Queenstown and rented a car. We drove up to Picton and took the ferry to North Island.

Our friends met us in Wellington and loaned us their car, then took the train home to Hamilton. We drove the North Island up to the Coromandel Peninsula. From there we rejoined them and they took us back to Auckland.

My secret for driving on the left: Everytime I got behind the wheel I just started chanting "left, left, left, left, left, left, left!" LOL!

Incidentally, we met our Kiwi friends when we drove to Alaska in 2016. They were camping next to us in a Walmart parking lot in Whitehorse, Yukon territory.

I wonder how they would feel if around 120,000,000 of us showed up on their doorstep and asked for asylum?
