Photo of the month (unfortunately)...

I understand that natural wood beams are considered a good selling point in some houses, but only if they've been intentionally planned to be placed there, and if they're in a bit more finished condition than this maple tree limb that installed itself in our master bedroom ceiling (almost directly over our feet) shortly after 4:00 A.M. at the height of the ice storm last Friday.

As bad as it seems (and, believe me, with our entire bedroom out of commission while we get a new roof, ceiling, and carpet, it's bad), it could have been much, much worse. This limb was only part of the entire top of the maple tree that came crashing down -- as you see, the heaviest part of the snag landed well outside our house, although you can imagine the force it took to implant several branches in our roof with enough leverage to hold the rest of it perfectly horizontal.

and for all the trouble to come and to endure. One day it will be a memory. But now it looks like a perfect bitch.
But I am glad with you for all that did NOT happen.

We've had a tree come down on our house before (a little less than nine years ago), but never when we were actually in the house, let alone when the tree came down almost directly on top of us.

If that section of the tree had flipped so that the trunk section had come through the roof instead if some of the branches, I'd probably be posting here from my hospital room...if I was still around to post at all, that is.

Not sure I would want to be walking on the roof like in the last shot. Then again I don't do heights anymore. Hopefully they get your house fix and better than ever soon.
