The first two are only a threat to us, US, because we invaded them. The last one is a threat because of what we do to countries the world over.
Syria learns better than we do, as per the fact we still tried to threaten and bomb them after Iraq and Afghanistan. Unlike Iraq and Afghanistan, Syria has a large, well trained military. It took another country to step in with an idea we hadn't tried - Diplomacy. All we ever seem to have are threats and bombs.
