Front Street Fire: A look backThis event was the genesis of my recent contest post of the artists work to recreate what we lost. While it is not a pleasant event to look back to what happened 6 months ago to this beautiful and historic little seaport, it is good to know that as a community - we are moving "out of the ashes"
Kudos to Asher Robinson for lifting our spirits

(18,636 posts)Now I see they were heartfelt volunteers selflessly pitching in to restore their town. It's inspiring to see such a display of community pride.
I live near Garrettsville Ohio where a fire razed nearly an entire city block a week or so ago. The town is historical and much of downtown was stll constructed of old dried timber.
Thanx for posting.

(2,435 posts)I just looked up the news stories of the fire in Garrettsville. I know there really are no words. What you have is what you have always had - the people that made this home. I promise to check from time to time to see how you all come out the other side.

(18,636 posts)It's about 20 minutes from here, but my gf and I would go there on occasion to eat at The Olde Mill Resturant. It's a really quaint little town that lost a lot of history that night.
Thanx for the concern though.
