Owing to circumstances beyond my control (i.e. the Lightroom plug-ins I've used for years not being fully-compatible with LR5), I'm going to have to do a complete rewrite of my Raven Falls website, using a new set of software tools. While I was going to the trouble and expense of doing so, I figured I should get something that would expand the capability of what I have had in the past (image search, improved mobile usage, better shopping cart) as well as provide a new look-and-feel.
Before working on my new site itself, I put up a test site here. I'm requesting that people here please give it a try and let me know if they experience any major problems in usability or design.
FWIW, what's up now contains virtually all the functionality of the eventual final site, but, obviously, with a very limited subset of images/galleries. Also, the "journal" link is not yet properly functional due to WordPress issues, and I would recommend against trying to make purchases (while I have the shopping cart set to "testing," I'm not sure if this only works with a certain user account, and obviously don't want to have to deal with the hassle of having to work out refunds to DUers who accidentally made several-hundred-dollar PayPal purchases!). If you want to give me feedback, feel free to do so on this thread, in PMs, or using the "contact form" on the website itself (which is functional).
For comparision, my existing site can be found here.
Thanks in advance for all who decide to help out!

(1,576 posts)I found the navigation easier as i had to do a hunt to find the "next" photo link on the older site. the script message and the obvious navigation tool were an improvement. possibly move the navigation tool to the bottom of the page???
the only thing missing was a price for the photo on it's page. i'm sure that is in the coming as it is nice to see the price before clicking "add to cart"

(26,044 posts)As far as I know, there's no way with these tools to put the price on the gallery display itself.
(On the bright side, with this setup, I don't have to write the prices into each image's "instructions" metadata field -- and rewrite each image any time I needed to change the price -- as I had to do with the old plug-in.)

(20,886 posts)Easy to navigate. I particularly like your blog entries... got stuck there reading them.
The only thing I would change, which may not be possible, is having the galleries against a total black background. The photos are against black when enlarged, but i would like to see the entire gallery against black.
Oh yeah, i use Safari on a Mac. Worked fine on the iPad, too.

(90,769 posts)Easy to click through. I really like the layout of the galleries. The thumbnails seem bigger. I like that.
No problems either day.
Your work is awesome!
