Never have been. Olympus offered a wrist strap and I used it through the OM years and adapted it to the E series DSLRs. Once I went mirrorless and the cameras shrunk the old strap just couldn't be made to work so I fabricated a thin rope type strap. It worked ok but had its shortcomings.

Then I found this: http://joby.com/camera-straps/3-way-camera-strap/

The only adjustment I had to make is to carry the camera on my left wrist because the tripod mount is offset to that side and the camera hangs funny on the right wrist but that actually works better for making pictures once I got used to it. For long lenses I rotate the base plate and let the lens hang down. When I need my hands free I can make it into a neck or shoulder strap---way cool! I wish the base plate was thinner because it adds to the bulk and I'm really getting into portability.

They have some other neat stuff too.

Similar to modern sailboat line. 1/4 inch line will tow an SUV and it has no stretch. The cord would probably support 80 pounds.

If you need your hands free to dig around in the bag just park the camera around your neck. That's all I use the strap for.
