Celebration: Remember that "damn bird"?

The one I could never get a decent shot of no matter how I tried? Always too fast, too crafty for me. Always moved just as I snapped. The source of much frustration.

That damn bird other people call the yellow bellied sapsucker?

Here are some somewhat decent shots I finally got this year. (After trying for 3 years)

The red-bellied woodpecker ran him off.

I'm glad you're healing. Maybe May will still bring you something enjoyable to do. Solly Mack Apr 2014 #6

I was looking forward to more shots of him but the other woodpecker attacked him one morning. They were even fighting on the ground. I've never seen them fight before. It was intense. The sapsucker flew away and hasn't been back since.

separating my two finches, so this reply is timely. I don't know if they are fighting or what. It may be the molt. But one of them has all his neck feathers missing, and I tell you, that is one scary sight. Did you know their neckbones are about 3mm in diameter.
Geez
I now have about 20 useless bird eggs in a nest on my desk. Too sweet to throw away. All duds.
I think I have a barren pair, and it's his fault.

That had to be very scary.

Sorry 'bout your duds. That would frustrate me to no end.

Bet it does them too.

Slow going with your wrist?

4 weeks the first, 3 weeks for this new one.
Amazing all I can do with one hand and one immobile stump. but not biking, kayaking, swimming. That's what I had in mind for May.
it's all down hill from here and this too will heal. Thanks for asking.
