Related: About this forumHappy to show proof of spring in my yard this afternoon - we have finally solidly made it.
I may be forced to use one of these for the Seasonal Contest "Spring"
Under the rainbow made by my watering hose and the sun you can see a black arc.
That is the netting container for the little lettuce plants you see under it. The netting is to protect my future salads from the gorgeous critter in the next photo.
I live in the middle of town at a very busy street. It makes me sad how much of the wild critters' habitats we have messed with. But that does not so much apply to black bears roaming. Note the bit of graffiti behind him. it was done by my nephew with paint cans he stole from my workshop.
In all his glory, and scared out of his mind. I crept up.
And we can't not at least give a nod to the azaleas.

(60,010 posts)Our was vivid but short, the temps went up fast for a few days, and the blossoms went away.
May this be the end of cold spells for you....

(60,026 posts)Iris are opening as well....and we have lows in the mid to low 40s this coming Fri and Sat PM! After that, we should start some milder evenings...but since my lettuce, chard, greens are only one week planted - and beets go in after the next swath of rain ends - I am hoping for a delay in the inevitable furnace like conditions!

(22,380 posts)I have been kibitzing your posts about planting tomatoes and vegetables for a long time and learned a lot, thank you for them.
My purple irises at the other side of the house opened this morning.
They are beautiful. And of course I know exactly what you are saying about the heat being so very distructive.

(60,026 posts)We are about half way selling our veggie seedlings...been a good season. Going to try out straw bale gardening this year - got so much to do I don't know how it will all get done (typical for me, always bite off too much!)
thanks for your kind words...
