Some of those waves are angry grizzlies.
I've bean beaten up by some nasty shore breaks.
There came a time when I thought, "Wow, I could break my neck and drown."
And I wasn't even distracted trying to take pictures.
Merely getting disoriented by a big wave, and then getting smashed by one or two waves following is plenty bad enough; this fellow talks about that in his video.
Oh, I see he swims with sharks too...
