I'd say run the fall contest, and skip the summer one.

I'm getting ready to run the October contest but I think it would be better if we didn't run at the same time.

What do you think?

I call it "colorful bohemian village ready for the begonia festival". Taken September 5, I think, from an iPhone.

I was married on that beach years ago and have many fond memories of staying in "Venetian", those colorful units.

Odd lack of people. Cool pic.

Truth is that local inhabitants, many from those very units, staked out their beach parcels at dawn so as to be assured of a good view of the parade of floats later that day, if not the next day. It's a crazy time and almost too crowded for such a sweet place, but this is the one big deal of the year for Capitola so I'll let them have that.

I don't live there, but I can see that colorful string of motel units and condos from my place in a different community. And I'd rather be looking at them than back toward my place from them. It's just a bit too crowded for my liking.

when I came to see photos that I had only seen on an old laptop. I was having computer problems so iffy and had it on my mind. New computer so still setting up so I voted just run the fall contest. We can have a show off your summer thread for those that might have photos saved to choose from. Course all my photos are on backups still. (or in camera waiting for software installs.)

but then I assume the fall contest would be in November?

have submissions the beginning of teh week and go from there. or wait til the very end of october to run it

Summer Contest: Submissions start Sept 1. - so we're 3 weeks late.

Fall Contest: Submissions start Dec. 1 - we're 2 months away from that.

I vote to do the summer contest post haste.

After I saw your post I changed it to summer. It is still summer here...for a couple more hours!

Here is when we do them

March 1 for Winter
June 1 for Spring
Sept 1 for Summer
Dec 1 for Autumn

I think you did the "right" thing. Skipping Summer is fine with me, but starting the Fall contest too soon is really not.

but not because I have any great photos to enter.

I just think it's a nice distraction in GD when the photo contests are running to all the
negative discussion that is going on most of the time.

ill start submissions tomorow and keep them open for 1 week.
