Funny - they look just like my crows! (a whole flock of them decided to take up residence around my apartment over a year ago). Interesting, smart birds, but noisy - plus they drive all the other birds away - even the jays!

and last year saw cardinals. Waiting for them. Haven't seen jays.

They're probably related to your crows, Tom K!

I'm envious - I've never seen one - they don't live west of the Rocky Mountains, for some reason. Also, our jay birds aren't blue jays (they're not here either!). We have Stellar's jays (blue with a black crested head, mainly east of the Cascades but I've seen them here) and scrub jays (pretty common here, blue but no crests). They're pretty aggressive, I caught them dive bombing my cat once!

I'm glad you like my black cat, I took that in my apartment in front of a window.
