as the moon eats the sun

todays eclipse from austin


it begins



around eclipse maximum. there are several large sunspots in the middle


the sun dipping into some clouds


near sunset


just about to hit the clouds


the last visible bit before the clouds took over



the next solar eclipse in the us will be in 2017. that will be a total eclipse in part of the us

I'm impressed......you've got sunspots in the first few!

And the clouds really enhanced the sun and moon imagery.



It was singularly unimpressive here. I couldn't even tell there was a partial eclipse going on in the middle of the afternoon. Oh well. You can't win them all!

Thanks for showing these - solar eclipses are so...I dunno, cosmic? But they floor me. Hopefully in 2017 we'll have clear skies here.

Around these parts, forget about viewing it! 1.8 inches rain yesterday, maybe an inch more today, plus thunder & lightning plus a tornado not far from here! That's more like Texas weather!

I'm happy you caught it. I wasn't at the river yesterday, so missed it entirely, due to trees in the suburbs.
