Related: About this forumI have a new lens!
My wonderful, contest-winning shot cost me my old lens. The Antelope Canyon's floor is a very soft, fine sandy material..............and it floats so easily. You can barely see it. That dust got into my old Tamron lens and rendered it too costly to fix.
So, today, my wonderful husband took me to my favorite camera store where he bought me a new Tamron zoom lens. It's 16--300 mm with mechanical stabilization. I am about to take it outside and test it thoroughly.
I may post some of my results later...

(68,644 posts)I still have my Nikon bodies and Nikkor lenses.
The 43-83 portrait lens is a favorite.
Hmmm, don't they make digital backs for old film SLRs?

(2,016 posts)Taking shots on a breakwater in Rhode Island after a hurricane. A huge wave knocked me into the drink, and my telephoto lens was filled with sea water. Oddly enough, the camera still worked (Olympus OM-1). I still have that indestructible camera, though I don't shoot film anymore.
Congrats on the new lens!

(36,540 posts)I've been thinking about getting a camera with more zoom. Hmmm, may have to think on that some more.

(149,737 posts)It's a great lens! I am loving how well it works.
I don't think many lenses have this wide a range...16 to 300 mm!

(46,436 posts)You may never have to remove your lens again.

(149,737 posts)You can bet I won't remove it much.
I do have my Nikkor 50 mm lens, which has never seen much use. I think it will become my portrait lens.
Did you see the pictures I posted?
I have things to learn, of course, and the day is not spectacular.

Yesterday was not a very good day to take pictures...the sky was overcast and yucky. It looks a lot prettier today; I'll see if I have time later.
