whatever. Sometimes whatever yields a nice surprise.
Went to the upper end of Lake Berryessa today. The light was dull, but gave some interesting results none the less.
This little fellow scampered under my feet. I swung the camera around and shot blindly. The place is full of these ground squirrels. It's a wonder the lake doesn't leak out though all the holes.
The osprey are nesting. And what a nest this was!
PG&E generally puts up platforms for the osprey to prevent what happened in the previous photo.
But the surprise of the day was the pelicans. There was a very large flock of the darn things, flying in, landing, floating. Just generally having a good old time.

(4,940 posts)I love 'em! Low light (cloudy days) here in summer is usually a plus for photographers - there's just so MUCH light! My husband takes great photos, and your Pelicans are reminiscent of a shot he got of local Arctic Swans - same number of birdies, a pond up the Haul Road on gravel, no development -
Thank yoiu!

(149,620 posts)I especially love the motion in the bird pics, but that damned squirrel is wonderful too.
Nice going!

He can hold in his beak, enough food for a week,
Damned if I know how the hell he can.

(27,445 posts)I love gloomy days for photography. Clouds make the photos more compelling IMHO.
I've never been to Berryessa. Now I want to go.
