i went on a photo expedition to the texas state railroad,a steam train running in east texas. once a year they have a special photographer trip. the night before the trip they bring out one of their steam engines to shoot at night.

(5,113 posts)the rest of the light was incidential light from the station.
because there were 20 of us or so shooting what they did was count down before flashing the strobes.
if you were using a 5 sec exposure for example the would count down 3,2,1 and trigge the flash. you could open your shutter on 1 and still catch the flash
That must have been a fun shoot.
