(85 posts)I haven't seen this yet, but I got to sit with the Director of this doc at the DGA Awards. You will be happy to know that he was super nice and seemed very passionate about his topic. Anyway, its a very cool story and her photos are pretty amazing.

(46,436 posts)She was a really interesting and eccentric woman, and her photos are just amazing. I am in awe of anyone who does street photography and impromptu "people pictures" like this.
Was the director the guy who found the negatives and brought the photos to light?

(14,040 posts)Depending on who you listen to he's either the devil or an angel. I love her photography but I'm personally torn about whether she'd like all this notoriety. She seemed to be a very private individual (with a serious case of OCD or whatever hoarders have--I believe her photography was a part of that disorder... she collected photographs of people like she collected newspapers).
One of the things that most impresses me about her work is her hit rate. The guy that has the other batch of negatives (can't remember his name) did a gallery show of entire rolls of film side by side and she was like, 9 out of 10 for her hit rate (meaning getting an interesting or engaging photo).

Maybe she wouldn't have liked the notoriety, but what a loss if these photos had never been shared and appreciated.
