1. I see all those DSLR users at the Arboretum, and I wonder why.

Unless they are printing huge poster sized images, they don't need them.

and the 4/3. Niconnon DSLRs have slightly larger sensors but the 35mm aspect ratio requires cropping 30% of the image to print to standard paper formats. 4/3 is almost a perfect fit for 4x5, 5x7, 8x10, 8.5x11, and so forth.

Only full frame has an advantage and they weigh 8 pounds with a short zoom.

but most of us don't need that. I print three or four a year for friends and family, and they are 8x10.

Even then it is more resolution needed for a print that size.
