for being here, helping newcomers, sharing information, and generally
providing so much encouragement to all of us rank amateurs.
I have learned so much from participating in this group!
And I am thrilled to have my Summer Camouflage photo of the deer win the
Summer contest!!! I really am thrilled and look forward
to the challenge of running the Fall contest!
Thanks to all of you!
On edit: OMG, I can hardly believe my entry for September with alfredo's theme of Another Roadside Attraction
won! But it really does represent what I said above. I took that photo when I first started using a digital camera
about 6 years ago. One single shot of the colorful handicrafts laid out over the rock wall at the highest elevation
turnout on the road from Cuzco to Puno and Lake Titicaca. But, over the years of participating with this group,
seeing photos that are shared, seeing photos that 'get the votes', I have learned a lot about composition, cropping,
line, perspective, color and other techniques that make a good photo of a subject a better photo. I used some of
what I've learned participating with the group to crop and make some minimal post processing changes to that one shot
only photo before I submitted my entry. So, thanks, again!

(17,087 posts)Now that you have "won" a contest, you can soon look forward to becoming a weary veteran of the group! At least the seasonal winners don't have to pick a theme.
