I don't think this is the same one that we were seeing earlier this year since it's a different part of the trail, but I can't be sure. This bird is so fearless or foolhardy that I could get within about two feet with the 24-70. Easy pickin's for hunters. Tastes like chicken.

is what my friends in eastern Oregon tell me they call this bird. They think if they keep still they won't be noticed.
That's a beautiful picture, it would look nice on a book cover.
