Hello group!

I haven't ventured here before. But I have a question.

I have a bunch of 35 mm slides that I want scanned to a CD and some prints made to give to family. I've done this before at a local supermarket with some photo services. It cost me 29 cents per slide. Now I've learned that they no longer do this. The only option I know of (although there might be others locally) is a very cool vintage camera store that does specialty processing. But there it will cost me a $7 setup fee and a dollar per slide. Their work is very high quality, but money is also important.

Can someone tell me about buying a slide scanner? Is that economically attractive?

Other ideas?

Thanks in advance.
