Water. I decided to go with Water as the main subject. I would like to see photos that feature water to the point that without the water it would not worth taking. Get creative with it though would like to keep the post processing to a minimum. No problem with a touch of color correction, levels adjustment and sharpness to make it pop a bit. Black & white and infrared would be great too. I spent yesterday looking for examples/ideas to post. I'll open the submissions on April 18th. Both the submissions thread and comments thread will be posted in the Photo group as usual and I will pin them to the top so you can find them easy. Happy shooting everyone!

(149,674 posts)My work just does not even begin to be this good.
*sigh*
We shall see.

(8,039 posts)Google for. But you have some wonderful photos of the ocean and were one of the people I thought of when choosing the theme because of them. Then there was regnaD kciN and water falling over things along with Mira's variety of water pics. So no sighing and we shall see, you've got this.
Edit and cannot leave out Ellen all surrounded by water like she is.

(149,674 posts)I thought you took all of those!
I don't really want to win...second place is wonderful!
CC
(8,039 posts)yours. OMG no only a few of them. I was trying to find different ideas because I would really like a full contest. Second place is always the real winner!

(31,399 posts)I love water. I love being around water. I love shooting water: things that are in it or on it.
I can't decide!

(31,399 posts)taken on Monday in DC. Sometimes the shot is all about being in the right place at the right time.

And here's one of my own taken at the beach last October--that I was considering--that I've found looking through my archives.

And one that I took in 2009 when we were in Peru. It's looking from land out over the floating islands of Lake Titicaca when the light was golden.

(46,436 posts)Did you know that Alaska has more coastline than the rest of the US combined?
In addition, Alaska has more than three million lakes over 20 acres each.
AND
Alaska has over 3,000 rivers.
The only hard part of this contest will be figuring out which pic to use.

(31,399 posts)I've narrowed my choices down to two very different shots. Both are from situations that are right time, right place. In other words, I couldn't go out looking
for these shots. I won't be back at the beach until mid-May. We do have some lakes nearby, but I'm not terribly motivated to go out on a shoot and I figure
those of you with gorgeous scenery in your backyard are going to have the advantage compared to anything I could take around here.
I have one water shot that I really love, but it was already entered in another contest. Also a case of right time, right place.
I took this a couple of years ago when we were in London and this little boy was wading in the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park.

Have fun making your choice!

(31,399 posts)CC--who is hosting the April event--has said submissions will open on April 18th. So come to the Photography group
on the 18th and look for the thread titled April Photo Contest Submissions.
I will pin both the submissions thread and comments thread to the top so they are easy to find.
