1. Haha--you've been flocked!

There is a house in an adjacent neighborhood--where I walk Snowy--that has four of these flamingo lawn ornaments.

They have a dog--and we say 'hi'--while they are out waiting with their girls for the school bus. I asked them one time what
the flamingos were all about and didn't get a really good answer. Something about a joke from a brother. She's from Huntington Beach. He is from New York.
No connection to Florida.

What is the story with being flocked?

This is the first time I've seen it. A friend of mine in Los Osos said one of her neighbor's had been flocked. I guess it's the newest practical joke going around.

On edit I found some info.

You have to "pay" to have them removed.

No one would ever do that to me, since I would want to keep them.

You can also buy "insurance" not to be flocked.

I agree, they would have to pay me to get them back. I had three of the original Florida flamingos stationed in my yard for years. They finally reached the end of their very long life and I had to dispose of them. All you can find these days (new) are cheap Mexican knockoffs.

It's either stainless steel or aluminum. The letters are the same. The letters are raised from the surface. It was designed to have a sheet of water running over the surface, which made the letters stand out. That lasted about six months and then they turned off the water and painted the letters. Probably someone complained that it was a waste of water in the drought.

I lived in the sub Sahara. I loved the vistas in the Eritrean highlands, but we all lived on a knife edge. In sixty nine the drought got real. I was lucky, my three year stay was near the end. I was spared the horror of a "Green Drought."

Don't buy Canadian Rye. They don't have to se at least 50% Rye.

If you want to try a good wheated Bourbon, try Weller Antique it's smooth as a baby's bottom.
