I think it's been said before, but I want to say it again.
Looking at the fantastic entries and the polling going on right now, I'm reminded of a sentiment expressed here some time ago that has stuck with me:
Every photograph, in all three threads, has at least a couple of votes.
That means for every photo, there are a handful of people who looked at it and decided they thought it was the best of the bunch. Not among the best, but the best one there.
Someone said that to themselves about your photo.
Congratulations to you for that.

I figure that means several other people may have at least considered my entry and enjoyed it. 
Art for art's sake. 
Of course, some contests are more gratifying than others. 
the photos are distinct and the people who look at them see different things... I find it very humbling, as I know my photo is not the best, yet I got a vote or two.
