When I went to see why Snowy was barking...

in the front hall where she can look out the windows...here's why! Not the best shot (that line is one we've stretched across an area we try
to keep the deer out from feeding on a young Japanese maple) but they often come and knock seed out of the bird feeders and then gobble it up from the ground.

2. I thought they would scatter when I went out the front door

but they didn't.

They did scatter, though, when I went up the front steps to get that line out of my shot. (The lines have worked because the deer walk around them.)

It's very strange. Snowy and I will come up on deer when we're out walking in the morning and they just stand and stare at us. Not 15-20 feet away.
Even though I was farther away from them in the yard, they spooked.

4. I took a photo of a deer in the woods with a digital camera. The leaves

were all brown. When I looked for the picture in the camera later, there were only leaves in the forest. The deer did not register at all. I thought that was pretty spooky. Course they were not as close as your deer were to you. Pretty animals.

5. The deer camouflage really well at certain times of year especially in the woods.

I caught another one playing peek a boo at the same time in the yard next door, while her friend was walking up the hill.
