(22,380 posts)posting this under yours was an accident. Glad you liked it. And here is another one: I was wrong about having just one, I found a few more looking for river photographs for the next contest. I would call this a camouflage duck.

(15,812 posts)That is a very cool photo. Ducks follow the water wherever it leads.
My five year old grandson must think I am into ducks. Well, our entertainment over the years has been to take seeds and even bread to the lake at the park where they don't disallow duck feeding. Anyway, he made sure that I knew that after a big rain, there was some sort of huge puddle in his other grandmother's back yard, and there were ducks swimming around in the puddle. I thought it was pretty cute that he tried to tap into my interests like that. But I told him next time I needed a photo of it!!

(15,812 posts)in a line, it reminds me of the ducks at the Peabody Hotel. They are trained to come down from the roof of the hotel every day, on the elevator, and then swim around in the fountain in the lobby for most of the day. I need to get a photo of that, or better yet, a movie clip.
Did you see the post here about the eagles someplace near Seattle? Maybe you can get some pictures. Sounds amazing. I think I remember you live around there?
Dyedinthewoolliberal
(15,593 posts)Now the trick is to remember what it said! I live north of Seattle, in Everett. Good memory!

Best picture to me is the one with ducklings in the puddle. Adorable.

I love it. That last one is great.
Ducks love to huddle together in the cold, I have noticed.
Blue_In_AK
(46,436 posts)And as for huddling in the cold, we have a group of them that stay up here in the wintertime in one little city park -- I think there are people who feed them and that's why they stay. In the dead of winter, they look like penguins at the South Pole.

the splash is low enough not to cover it up. The coloring from this vantage point looks almost geometric! Editing to say the coloring pattern looks a bit art deco!

(2,110 posts)Thought about editing that out, but then the pic looked boring.

(9,077 posts)I never had either. Apparently they're one of the only ones that do. Photo's are not the best. Pre dawn, in the rain.
