Purple Clarity
Promises
I've been shooting since 1968. Most of my past work has been photojournalism, but now I've shifted my focus from "la condition humaine" to simple beauty.
Technical info: Nikon D7100. The top shot was done with a Nikkor 70-200mm f4. The bottom shot was with a Sigma 50mm f1.4 Art which is my favorite lens at this point. Photoshop as required.

(1,193 posts)Is that morning dew on "Purple Clarity"? Perfect title of "Promises" on the budding iris.

(1,660 posts)It had drizzled overnight, so those are rain drops. It was very grey and overcast, and I glimpsed this out of the corner of my eye because of the splash of color.
I couldn't shoot it when I saw it, because I was walking my dog without my camera due to the threat of rain. After the walk I got my camera and tripod and went back for the shot. Halfway through the shoot, the large water drops on the branches slid down and spoiled the symmetry. But I already had this one on the card. Lessons for myself: 1 - Always (always, always, and did I say always?) carry a camera; 2 - Push the damn button.

I have to laugh about your walking the dog story. My entry in the current contest we're running (Spring) is a shot I got because I grabbed my little
point and shoot to take with me while walking the dog!
In fact, many of my favorite beach shots are ones I've taken while on early morning walks with the dog at the beach.
My dog has become an excellent photographer's assistant!
