It gets so bad some days they bump into my dogs while in a tumble. My husband and I dodge them all the time.
I got some shots one year of a pair flipping over and over on the ground. They were pinning each other.
Beautiful birds - but vicious.

(90,787 posts)I do like it when one mobs another one. It's kind of neat, all that swooping.

(14,896 posts)I particularly like your hummingbird photos. I know they are difficult to "capture".

(90,787 posts)He settled on my kitchen curtain rod. The hummers had been fighting hard that day and I think that one was getting the worst of it.
I think maybe that's what he wanted - to get away from the other hummers. I left him alone and the door opened. He finally left.
When their food is low they will hover around my kitchen window looking in, hoping to get my attention.
Spoiled, vicious little things. I love them!

(14,896 posts)I saw this PBS special on hummingbirds. Up until that time I did not know that they can be vicious! They look so unassuming.

(90,787 posts)I would like more than one specie to visit and stay. I get two now. But the rufous only stays a week or so.

(90,787 posts)of them at my house.
You'd think it would be easier to get a shot with so many but it really just means they fight more, so they move faster, and I end up dodging them more than anything. Hard to get a shot when you're constantly jumping out of the way.

(31,405 posts)I remember the fights at the feeders. Dive bombing. Reminded me of Star Wars fighters.

(90,787 posts)I have photos for you I need to go through and more to take.
Between the garden (veggies and flowers) my DIY projects have slowed down. The rain hasn't helped any. I work outside and need sunshine...or at least no rain.
