It is hard to wake up to the reality of all the ugliness that is going on in this country, day after day. It's an assault on our sense of decency, fairness, and respect for our form of government. It is stressful and anxiety provoking. It wears me down to wake up worrying, day after day after day.
So I have to say I really appreciate mornings when Mother Nature outdoes herself and starts out the day with a spectacular sunrise. Since I've been in this apartment in downtown Raleigh, I've had a ringside seat on my balcony to many of these beautiful displays. It makes a huge difference in my mood when the day starts out with such beauty. Thought I would share just a few of these gorgeous displays that I've experienced in the last month.

(31,392 posts)Although I do get a limited sunset view, the sunrises are frequently much better where I am.

(751 posts)I love mornings, especially when Mother Nature really outdoes herself. I love you caught the sun in the 8/7 shot and I love how the colors pop in the 8/9 photo.

(31,392 posts)When we have these gorgeous sunrises, I usually sit out on the balcony with my coffee and camera for about 20 minutes before the sun actually clears the horizon. Take lots of shots as the colors change before the sun comes up. Most of the time, the best color is actually prior to sunrise, so the vividness of the color in the 8/7 shot with the sun rising is somewhat unusual.
