Seattle's Lake Union show shot from West Seattle's Hamilton View Park.
This year the wind was blowing the smoke in a good direction.

(15,812 posts)Is Hamilton View Park off of California near where it does those extreme curves? Or is it nearer the beach? I am trying to place it. I could be way off, but there is a nice overlook off California and I was wondering if this was it. There may be a park near the High Point area but I never found it if there is.
If not, where in West Seattle is it?
I guess you can tell--my daughter's family is there so I visit there when I can.
I bet some of those overlooks in West Seattle were packed for the fireworks display.
Oh, and your pictures are perfect--as good as any fireworks photos I have seen.

That is the one.
The other park I have shot many fireworks from is Camp Long park at 35th and Alaska SW.
There is High Point Playfield at SW 32nd and Myrtle. It is multiple sports fields between two schools. I have shot the fireworks from there once, but the trees are starting to get too tall now.
The West Seattle overlooks do not get as crowded as they used to since the Ivar's fireworks show in Elliot Bay stopped.
Down on Harbor Ave, is a good place for viewing the city as long as there are no freighters anchored in the bay blocking the view. Hamilton Park gets you above the ships.

(15,812 posts)We just walk through an awesome park (Schmidt) and we are at the beach. Perfect length mini-hike. I sat on the Akai Beach for hours one day taking photos of birds (the part where you can sometimes see Mount Rainier above the condos).
I might have to plan to be there some Fourth of July!

(10,136 posts)there is often a bald eagle in the west-end trees or fishing in the bay when the crows and sea gulls aren't trying to chase it away.
