(36,827 posts)For all my images Im saving in RAW and jpeg, the latter of which Im really only using for preview purposes. So I dont really care at all about the quality of jpegs my camera produces and just save in the method that requires the least amount of memory.

(36,827 posts)The native processing for contemporary digital cameras is quite good. Even lots of professional photographers are relying extensively on their camera processed images.
Its just not the way I use my images. Since mass storage is pretty cheap, I store everything on my NAS. Even the compact JPEGs are good enough for social media and I have all the RAW versions if I want higher quality.

(36,827 posts)The issue is sometimes I want a different resolution or crop or other editing attributes. Having the RAW file means never having to say youre sorry.
