(42,641 posts)We saw our first Monarchs 2 weeks ago,
Last year, we had 15 hatch and fly away in the fall.
Our garden has literally thousands of wildflowers to attract nature.

(26,288 posts)I like to call my gardens 'chaotic beauty' because there's little organization, plan or pattern. In the Spring the flower beds are full of Tulips, Daffodils, Nasturtium and Hyacinth. Now, along with the wild flowers, there is Larkspur, Bachelor Buttons, Sweet William, Daisies, Cosmos, Lilies, Sun Flowers, Milk Weed, Feverfew, Bee Balm, Lavender, and other purple flowers, the names of which escape me. And, right now, all the flower beds are also full of garlic, that I'll be harvesting in just a few weeks.
I'm always on the look out for butterflies. There have been several Monarchs flitting around.

(42,641 posts)Do you also grow sage? A nice purple flower.
I mix my vegetables with the flowers.
Chaotic beauty is a nice name for it.

(51,623 posts)She hatches them and does the whole thing every year. This year there was a significant drop in numbers. People posted here on DU saying they too have seen the same decline this year (maybe as a result of climate change).
